Nicole is the Associate Vice-President, Scholarship, Research and Creative Activity at Vancouver Island University. In this role, she supports rural communities in BC to diversify through tourism by providing research support, sharing innovative case studies and insights from other jurisdictions. She collaborates with academics from across other BC institutions and engages her students in research projects within communities.
Nicole was a former member of the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation. She has conducted a number of contracts for the Canadian rural secretariat related to amenity based rural development, provincially around agri-tourism and the tourism labour market with BC’s resort municipalities. She has supported rural communities on resident attraction strategies, community signage, gathering of visitor statistics, trail development, agri-tourism, and assessing tourism opportunities.
